Susanne Jessop, Chair of Governors at Spring Meadow Infant and Nursery School in Ely reports that they currently have two governor vacancies.
"As a governing body we are keen to develop wider links with the community and local businesses, and to draw on local expertise, particularly in finance and business.
In regards to the role, the governing body plays an important role in setting the vision and strategic direction of the school. Effective leadership within the governing body holds the school to account for the education of all the children in the school. Governors are responsible for setting and ratifying the budget of a school, and ensuring efficient use of resources. Volunteering as a governor, will develop an individual's leadership skills, and will give them skills that they can bring back to the workplace.
