A message from Simon Bainbridge, Head of Highfield Special School

Highfield School is one of the six area special schools in Cambridgeshire, and is located next to Ely College on Downham Road. Highfield currently has 120 pupils on roll.

Each area special school has a catchment area, similar to mainstream secondary schools and cater for pupils with a wide range of additional needs from two to nineteen years old.

A significant number of our pupils have only moderate learning difficulties and are studying at a similar level to peers in mainstream schools, however due to their learning needs they are best catered for in small groups with a higher level of adult support. These students are motivated, polite, reliable and hardworking and are employable given the right experience and opportunities. We are very keen to set up some work experience placements with local businesses and I would welcome the chance to show any interested parties around the school, meet some of our students and go from there.

Thank You
